【Manuscript Review Process】

After receiving the manuscript including the abstracts and contexts, the Editor in Chief and the executive editor make the final decision to publish a manuscript based on the recommendations of the reviewers. The volume to be published is decided by the editor meeting.

Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. The stages in the manuscript review process are as followes:

(I) manuscript received;

(II) identification of appropriate reviewers and submission for review;

(III) review,

(IV) revision,

(V) second review (for manuscripts that require review after revision);

(VI) additional review (for manuscripts that require more than two reviewers);

(VII) final review;

(VIII) typesetting,

(IX) printing.

It takes approximately two to three months for a manuscript to be reviewed and the actual time would be 3-5 months.

Using a double-blind peer review process, each manuscript, including the abstract and key words, is evaluated by scholars and experts appointed by the Editorial Committee. The Journal of Chinese Language Teaching invites both domestic and international scholars from a range of disciplines and research interests to serve as reviewers. Reviewers will receive free copies of the journal and any associated publications. The list of reviewers will be published in the journal on a periodic basis.

【Criteria for Review】

Critical and theoretical contribution: Originality and significance of the research (30%)

Methodology: Purpose of the research and the appropriateness of the research method (20%)

References: (20%)

Organization: (20%)

Language: (10%)

The reviewers should address the problems and provide suggestions for revision.

【The review results are categorized as follows】

(A) Highly recommended, can be published without modification.

(B) Recommended, can be published after revision based upon the reviewers’ suggestions.

(C) Conditionally recommended. The author will be asked to revise the manuscript based on the reviewers’ suggestions. The manuscript will then be sent back to the editor-in-chief or other reviewers for further review

(D) Not recommended. Not suitable for publication.

If both reviewers highly recommend or recommend the manuscript for publication, the Editor in Chief can decide to accept the paper for publication. If one reviewer highly recommends or recommends the manuscript for publication, and the other reviewer conditionally recommends the manuscript, the manuscript will go to the editorial board for additional review. In cases where both reviewers conditionally recommend the manuscript, both reviewers do not recommend the manuscript, or one reviewer conditionally recommends the manuscript and the other reviewer does not recommend the manuscript for publication, the manuscript will be rejected.
